The Rotary Club of Accra-Spintex on Thursday 18th February handed over a 4-seater KVIP toilet to the Apau Wawase DA JHS in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region. The facility comes with 2 normal privy rooms, 2 privy units with rails for the physically challenged, a changing room for girls, urinal for boys and rain harvesting system for hand washing. The club also presented 3 Veronica Buckets to the school and took the students through proper hand washing procedure and were encouraged to wash their hands frequently, especially before eating and after using the facility.
The facility is part of the Rotary International & USAID – US Agency for International Development funded $4million Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (#WASH) project in Ghana with Community Water & Sanitation Agency (CWSA) and Global Communities (GC) as implementation partners. This project targets 180 community and institution based facilities in 7 districts of 6 Regions in Ghana.
