Tree Planting Exercise Undertaken by Rotary Clubs of Accra Spintex & Accra South

The Rotary Club of Accra-Spintex in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Accra South on Friday 08th December, 2017 planted fifty (50) trees at the Sakumono KG and Primary school in Sakumono.

In her speech, the President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Spintex Miss Serwah Gollo said Climate Scientists have attributed human-induce global deforestation to 18-25% of global climate change.

Rotary International, the United Nations, the World Bank and other leading nongovernmental organisations are encouraging Tree Planting to mitigate the effects of climate change.

As part of Rotary International ‘s goal of protecting the environment and curbing climate change, Rotarians all over the world are implementing projects aimed at educating and protecting our environment.

She also added that this Tree Planting Exercise is not only to protect our environment and curb climate change but it is also a wakeup call to encourage corporate organisations,non governmental institutions, schools and other stakeholders to initiate Tree Planting campaigns.
