World Site Day Observed with SAVE A LIFE; Vision First Project

To commemorate World Sight Day, the Rotary Club of Accra-Spintex and our partners, Roberts and Sons Ltd. Optical Services, Catholic Hospital – Battor, Amuga Rural Bank, Tobinco Pharmaceuticals and others undertook a health screening at Battor in the Volta Region on 10th October 2019. The health services provided to the deprived community included Eye screening where over 300 eye glasses were given to patients who needed them, Breast screening, Blood Pressure, Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) screening, Cervical Cancer & Mental Health Awareness to commemorate World Mental Health Day.

As the club’s culture of celebrating members’ birthdays, past president of the club, Fred Labi of DigiBooks Publishing donated mathematics books to every child from primary 1 to 6 of Manya D/A Basic School where the event was held to celebrate his 73rd birthday. The Club President, Mr. Eli Evans as his birthday gift to the community also sponsored over 200 people on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to celebrate his with donations from some club members and friends.

The MP of the North Tongu Constituency, the Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who later hosted members of the club expressed his heartfelt gratitude for choosing his constituency. Other community leaders including the chief, Assemblyman, District Education Director and the Assistant Head Teacher of the school took turns to thank the club for our generosity.
